The Medication Assistant (MA) serves as caregiver who provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. This role involves administering prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and within the scope of practice defined by state regulations. The MA also documents resident care outcomes, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary information. They communicate changes in resident condition and care concerns to the charge nurse, collect specimens, gather vital signs, and provide housekeeping and laundry services. Additionally, the MA assists with and documents participation in wellness and recreational programs.
