About The Position

The Medication Aide is responsible for the supervision of self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department in compliance with Federal & State regulations and SSMG guidelines as directed by the Wellness Director. This role involves reporting changes in resident health, responding to emergencies, maintaining communication with staff, and providing educational meetings. The Medication Aide must also understand their role in the Safety & Disaster Plan, maintain resident confidentiality, attend required training, and strive for a safe working environment. A positive and professional demeanor is expected, along with adherence to all SSMG policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licensed CNA, Home Health Aid, Personal Care Aid must possess at least one certification.
  • Successful completion of the medication administration training course approved by the Department of Health and Senior Services.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department in compliance with Federal & State regulations and SSMG guidelines as directed by the Wellness Director.
  • Reports any change in resident’s health and provides proper documentation to the Wellness Director.
  • Responds quickly to all emergencies.
  • Maintains close communication with all departments and staff members.
  • Provides educational meetings for residents and staff as requested by Supervisor.
  • Understands role in the Safety & Disaster Plan.
  • Maintain confidentiality of residents’ and prospective residents’ information.
  • Attends all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
  • Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
  • Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures of SSMG.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
