About The Position

Join MercyOne as a Medication Access Coordinator and help patients access the medications and therapies they need. In this role, you will partner with patients, providers, pharmacists, and payers to support medication access, prescription assistance programs, and pharmacy growth initiatives. Certified Pharmacy Technicians are encouraged to apply.

The position is full-time, on a day shift, with 8-hour shifts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Iowa Board of Pharmacy Certified Pharmacy Technician License.
• 2–3 years of pharmacy experience, such as community, inpatient, ambulatory, or insurance experience.
• Knowledge of health benefit investigations, prior authorization support, patient financial assistance, medical terminology, diagnoses, and procedures.
• Complete Mandatory Reporter training for child and dependent adult abuse within three months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records, health care payers, and specialty pharmacy operations is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care through patient preparation, vital sign collection, and documentation.
• Assist with procedures, exams, and diagnostic equipment, including tympanometry and spirometry.
• Maintain aseptic techniques during preparation, procedures, and medication administration.
• Review payer reports and determine appropriate courses of action for management.
• Prioritize daily tasks based on business and patient/customer needs.
• Triage patients’ needs and assign them to appropriate staff.
• Perform insurance benefit investigations and review claim rejects and overrides.
• Help patients find financial assistance, such as grants, manufacturer programs, and discount cards, so they can access needed medications.
