About The Position
The Medical Technologist performs patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis, results reporting, instrument maintenance, and technical problem resolution. The role requires a service-committed, detail-oriented individual who can perform complex data analysis, exercise sound independent judgment, and demonstrate critical thinking skills. The position is on call, with a variable schedule that may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends, at MultiCare Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Sciences.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), AMT, or MT (AAB)).
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Medical Technology.
- Specialist certification in a discipline, such as Specialist Hematology (SH (ASCP)), Microbiology (SM (ASCP)), Specialist Blood Banking (SBB (ASCP)), or Tech Chemistry (SC (ASCP)).
Responsibilities
- Receive specimens and establish and maintain positive identification of specimens.
- Determine specimen suitability.
- Acquire and prepare reagents as needed.
- Perform instrument maintenance and calibration.
- Perform patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis, and results reporting.
