About The Position

The Medical Technologist supports patient care by performing laboratory testing used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The role includes waived, moderate, and high-complexity testing, with 2–5 years of hematology experience required. Testing experience must be from a clinical laboratory setting and may be gained through education or work experience. The position is part of the Core Lab at MacNeal Hospital, in the western suburbs of Chicago. The laboratory is a new regional clinical laboratory. The role is part-time and has a rotating shift.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree or an associate degree from a Medical Laboratory Science program.
A degree in Medical Technology, Medical Technician, or Medical Laboratory Science.
Experience with waived, moderate, and high-complexity testing in a clinical laboratory setting through education or work experience.
2–5 years of hematology experience.
Laboratory certification, such as ASCP or HEW.

Nice To Haves

Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory testing, including pre-examination procedures, in accordance with standard operating procedures and accreditation guidelines.
Conduct and document established quality control procedures for analytical tests, equipment, reagents, media, and products.
Evaluate quality control results and implement corrective action according to established protocols to help ensure accurate, high-quality patient testing.
