About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Medical Lab Technologist to join our team at the Salmon Creek Medical Center in Vancouver, WA. This role involves functioning as a generalist across hospital laboratory departments, performing routine and complex technical procedures, and operating/troubleshooting instrumentation. The Medical Technologist will be responsible for preparing, testing, and evaluating reagents, reporting accurate test results, performing preventive maintenance and quality control, and maintaining a safe work environment. The position requires a high level of attention to detail, the ability to work independently and within a team, and strong communication skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science, Medical Technology
• ASCP or AMT certification
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Function as a generalist across hospital laboratory departments
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
