About The Position

LabCorp is seeking a Medical Lab Technologist to join our team at the Salmon Creek Medical Center in Vancouver, WA. This role involves functioning as a generalist across hospital laboratory departments, performing routine and complex technical procedures, and operating/troubleshooting instrumentation. The Medical Technologist will be responsible for determining specimen acceptability, preparing and testing reagents, reporting test results for patient care, and performing preventive maintenance and quality control. Additionally, the role includes managing testing bench supplies, assisting with specimen processing, and maintaining a safe work environment with appropriate personal protective equipment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Science, Medical Technology
  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year or more of recent Blood Bank experience
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Function as a generalist across hospital laboratory departments
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
