About The Position

Mercy Medical Center is hiring a Medical Technologist for its Rapid Response Lab Team. This role is for individuals ready to thrive in a dynamic, high-energy environment, contributing exceptional talents to a team that makes a real impact daily. As a key member of the clinical laboratory, the Medical Technologist will perform and report a wide range of routine and highly complex analyses that directly influence patient diagnosis, treatment decisions, and clinical outcomes. The position is full-time, consisting of 30 hours per week, with 10-hour night shifts, including every other weekend and rotating holidays. The standard hours are 9 PM to 7 AM, three nights per week, with some flexibility for shorter shifts over four nights per week.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology from an accredited college/university or Associate’s Degree in an MLT certification program
MT, MLS or MLT-ASCP or equivalent level certification by one of the professional societies, or must be eligible to obtain certification within the first year of employment
Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in one or more of the following: Blood Bank, Microbiology, Bacteriology, Virology, Parasitology, Mycology, Mycobacteriology, Immunology, Molecular Diagnostics, Core Lab, Hematology, Coagulation, Routine Chemistry, Urinalysis, and Special Chemistry

Responsibilities

Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analyses of blood, urine, spinal fluids, and gastric juices
Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, using microscopic techniques and procedures
Ensures operation of analyzers and all laboratory equipment
