About The Position

UP Health System Marquette is seeking a Medical Technologist (MT) for their Microbiology Lab. This is a .8 FTE position with varied shifts. This position is a MAST union position and offers a $7,500 sign-on bonus for eligible external candidates. As a Medical Technologist, you will contribute to the mission of making communities healthier by performing diagnostic testing on patient samples to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring disease states. The role involves accessing protected health information, with occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens present. Physical requirements include frequent sitting, computer/data entry, and equipment handling, with occasional standing, walking, and light lifting. There is regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards.

Requirements

• Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree
• Medical Technologist licensure through ASCP or AMT preferred (licensure must reflect education requirements).
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Valid driver license
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP); ASCP or equivalent registry

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to assist physicians in diagnosing and monitoring disease states.
• Reports to the Director of Laboratory Services.
