About The Position

As a Medical Technologist at Palo Pinto General Hospital, you will play a critical role in the accurate analysis and interpretation of laboratory specimens to support patient diagnosis and treatment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field May accept technical training equivalent to a four year program with associated licensure.
  • Current Certification as a Medical Technologist or MLS (e.g., ASCP, AMT)
  • Experience with clinical laboratory procedures and instrumentation.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and quality assurance practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment with attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • BLS certification
  • Advanced certification or specialization in areas such as microbiology, hematology, or molecular diagnostics.
  • Experience working in a hospital laboratory setting.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Continuing education or training in emerging laboratory technologies and methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration and patient-focused service.
  • Prefer micro experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids using automated and manual techniques.
  • Obtains specimens from patients when necessary.
  • Ensure quality control by calibrating instruments, validating test results, and maintaining accurate records of procedures and outcomes.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues with laboratory equipment to minimize downtime and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to provide timely and accurate laboratory data for patient care decisions.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies related to laboratory safety, documentation, and confidentiality.
