About The Position
The Medical Technologist performs patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis, results reporting, instrument maintenance, and technical problem resolution. The role requires a service-committed, detail-oriented individual who can perform complex data analysis, exercise sound independent judgment, and demonstrate critical thinking skills. The position is based at MultiCare Allenmore Hospital in Tacoma and is listed as FTE 1.0, with an evening shift and a schedule that includes Monday through Friday and weekends.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Sciences.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist, MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), AMT, or MT (AAB).
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Medical Technology.
- Specialist certification in a discipline, such as Specialist Hematology (SH) (ASCP), Microbiology (SM) (ASCP), Specialist Blood Banking (SBB) (ASCP), or Technician Chemistry (SC) (ASCP).
Responsibilities
- Receive specimens and establish and maintain positive specimen identification.
- Determine specimen suitability.
- Acquire and prepare reagents as needed.
- Perform instrument maintenance and calibration.
- Perform patient analytic laboratory testing, quality control, data analysis, and results reporting.
- Resolve technical problems.
