About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. This role involves performing a variety of technical procedures in a laboratory setting to deliver quality patient care. New graduates are welcome as full training is provided. The position requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and good communication and organizational skills. A standardized color blindness test must be passed. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts based on business needs is also required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
Proficient with computers
Familiarity with laboratory information systems
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Nice To Haves

Current or prior Labcorp experience
ASCP or AMT certification

Responsibilities

Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
Assist with processing of specimens when needed
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
