About The Position

The primary purpose of the Medical Technologist Molecular Diagnostics position is to perform routine and complex laboratory analyses; assumes responsibility for procedural and system controls, problem solving, teaching and supervision under direction independently. Provides physicians with accurate and reliable analytical results necessary for the diagnosis/treatment of patients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or a related field (required).

Nice To Haves

  • ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates specimens received by the department and organizes workflow to provide optimum efficiency of testing and turnaround of results. Performs moderate and/or high complex testing. Uses knowledge of quality control to review and evaluate test or instrument performance.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and troubleshooting as needed. Evaluates inventory of supplies and reagents and communicate order as needed. Maintains records of test results and archives data. Assists in the total quality management in all aspects of training, testing and quality review. Assists in quality assurance and proficiency testing activities. Ability to demonstrate competence in all laboratory procedures sufficient to perform at a satisfactory level. Understands and adheres to University Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in University Hospital's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and University Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they are modified.
