This is a 0.6 Part-time position supporting Chemistry and Coagulation. Rotational weekends and Holidays required. The Medical Technologist performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols, selecting and performing additional procedures when indicated. They monitor workflow, evaluate results for clinical significance, and follow prescribed policy in reporting and notification of test results. The role also involves performing and documenting calibration, maintenance, and repair of instruments and equipment, recognizing and correcting malfunctions. Quality control and assurance are key, as is ensuring specimen integrity and proper collection. The technologist provides general direction, training, and technical assistance to other lab staff and students, and assists in improving laboratory procedures and processes. They ensure compliance with accrediting agency standards, including CAP Regulatory requirements, and perform proficiency testing. Specialty testing may be performed in areas such as transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry. The role supports critical care departments by providing timely and accurate results, especially during high acuity patient events, and requires the ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care.
