Responsible for collecting, processing, and testing patient specimens for the diagnosis and treatment of disease. This role involves performing routine waived, moderately, and high complex testing, collecting and processing specimens (including blood, urine, fecal, body fluid) for analysis in all departments of the clinical laboratory. The technologist will evaluate and solve problems related to specimen collection and processing, prepare samples for testing, send samples to reference laboratories, maintain laboratory equipment, and stock supplies. They will also perform complex laboratory procedures, recognize deviations from expected results, analyze and correct problems using scientific principles under direct supervision per CLIA requirements, and analyze quality control data, making judgments and taking appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision under direct supervision per CLIA requirements. Assistance in troubleshooting and instrument maintenance, as well as participation in training programs, are also key responsibilities.
