About The Position
Seeking a qualified Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for a temporary afternoon assignment. The technologist will perform routine and complex laboratory testing according to standardized methodology, maintain quality control standards, and manage blood bank protocols to support accurate patient diagnosis and treatment.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of active MLT/MT experience.
- Recent, hands-on Blood Bank testing experience.
- Active ASCP certification (MT or MLT) maintained in good standing.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine laboratory procedures using automated analyzers, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, flame photometers, and specialized laboratory equipment.
- Analyze blood cells by counting and identifying cellular components using microscopic techniques.
- Conduct blood grouping, typing, and compatibility testing; prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for patient transfusions.
- Maintain precise laboratory results by running standards and controls, verifying equipment function, and performing advanced quality control troubleshooting.
- Calibrate instruments, perform routine preventive maintenance following manufacturer guidelines, resolve operational malfunctions, coordinate repair services, and evaluate new equipment/techniques.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory supply inventories to ensure continuous testing availability.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize findings to prepare accurate technological reports for patient medical records.
