About The Position
Jefferson Hospital has a well-equipped emergency room, which utilizes hospital staff and contract physicians. Support services are provided for both inpatients and outpatients and the scope of service is consistent with the current mission of the hospital to provide quality community-based primary health care to Jefferson and surrounding counties. We’re seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team at Jefferson Hospital.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an accredited MT program.
- Current MT certification through a Board of Certification Accreditation Program.
- Current BLS certification.
Nice To Haves
- 2 years of previous experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing in the Laboratory.
- Performs manual diagnostic testing procedures.
- Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by conducting chemical analysis of blood, urine, gastric fluid, swabs, and other specimens for testing.
- Analyzes blood cells by counting and identifying cells, while exhibiting proficient microscopic techniques and procedures.
- Performs venipunctures (using syringe, butterfly, and evacuated tube methods), heel sticks, finger sticks, urine, and other specimen collections.
