About The Position

The Medical Lab Technologist performs quality control procedures, validates test results, and provides care relevant to patients across the lifespan. This role involves assisting in the delivery of physician reports, responding to technical inquiries, and performing preventative maintenance and monitoring of laboratory equipment. Additionally, the technologist will maintain supply inventories, perform venipunctures and other specimen collections, support the lab's quality program, and provide education to students and personnel.

Requirements

B.S.M.T, ASCP or AMT.
Associates degree or higher in science required upon hire or Associates degree or higher in related field required upon hire.
MLT - Certified Medical Laboratory Technician through American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required.
MLT - Certified Medical Laboratory Technician through American Medical Technologists (AMT) required.

Responsibilities

Performs quality control procedures to validate test results according to established standards and records results appropriately.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care relevant to the patient(s) under his/her care, applying principles of growth and development over the life span.
Assists in delivery of physician's reports via phone and electronic distribution in a timely manner.
Responds to "technical question" calls from units and physicians.
Performs preventative maintenance and monitoring of all equipment to ensure that it is working properly and maintains related records.
Records on instrument logs any repairs, replacement, and maintenance needed of equipment.
Maintains adequate supply inventories by rotating stock, checking for expiration dates, and ordering replacement stock.
Performs venipunctures on patients of all age groups and other specimen collection using proper therapeutic skills according to procedures.
Assists supervisors in additional duties which support the lab's quality program.
Provides teaching and education to students and other personnel population.
