This is a Safety Sensitive position. The Medical Technologist I performs and completes all tests according to departmental procedure manuals within established turnaround times, prioritizing tasks appropriately. They handle specimens according to departmental guidelines, including unacceptable specimens and those for transport to reference labs. The role involves recording and reporting testing data, performing and recording quality assurance/control data, recognizing outliers, and taking corrective action. Proficiency tests are performed and reported as assigned. The Medical Technologist I observes and abides by all mandated safety policies, performs instrument troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance, and monitors reagent and supply inventories. Phlebotomy and specimen triage duties may also be performed. The position requires demonstrating initiative, making good decisions, accepting constructive criticism positively, and assisting with the training of students. Additional duties may be assigned.
