About The Position

The Medical Technologist I is a licensed Medical Technologist responsible for day-to-day specimen processing, analysis, and results reporting. The role performs standard Medical Technologist duties with assistance from the Medical Technologist III Lead. The position also supports departmental administration, quality assurance and quality control, instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and collaboration with other PathGroup departments and subsidiaries.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
Valid ASCP or AMT certification required.
One year of job-related experience preferred.
Students or recent graduates eligible to sit for ASCP or AMT certification exams are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

Receive and process specimens according to department protocols.
Design and update procedures to promote efficient and accurate testing and reporting.
Assist the Supervisor, Manager, and Director with administrative functions, including ordering supplies and maintaining inventory.
Follow laboratory safety precautions and procedures in procedure manuals.
Produce, interpret, and report accurate and precise test results.
Identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance or patient sample result reporting.
Communicate pertinent section information and issues to a supervisor, manager, or other appropriate individual.
Perform instrument maintenance and method troubleshooting.
Assist with documentation and maintaining effective department QA/QC programs and monitors.
Work with other departments within PathGroup and its subsidiaries.
Follow the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including Privacy and Security policies.
Meet productivity expectations established by current departmental guidelines.
Maintain appropriate continuing education for certification and licensure.
