Medical Technologist I
About The Position
Vitalant is hiring a Medical Technologist I to provide skilled technical support in its Coagulation Lab in Pittsburgh. The role supports a mission-led, values-driven, customer-focused nonprofit organization providing clinical services, blood products, and scientific research. Training will be provided. This is a part-time position scheduled for three days per week, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., totaling 24 hours per week. The position has no weekend, holiday, or on-call work. Vitalant indicates a future intent to promote the role to full-time based on laboratory needs. The listed pay is $32.17 per hour. The work location is 875 Greentree Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree required, such as in Biology or Chemistry.

- Laboratory experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized coagulation testing according to established laboratory procedures.
- Perform testing including PT/INR, aPTT, fibrinogen, D-dimer, and thrombin time.
- Perform and evaluate mixing studies and other follow-up testing for abnormal coagulation results.
- Perform coagulation factor assays and von Willebrand testing as applicable to laboratory services.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance and calibration, prepare reagents, and conduct quality control.
