The Medical Technologist 2 (H) performs microbiological, molecular biological and immunological tests on body specimens to provide data for use in treatment and diagnosis of disease. Moreover, the incumbent facilitates quality assurance and instrument maintenance. This role analyzes samples from clinical patient samples using LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and GC-MS/MS instrumentation and SPE and LLE sample preparation techniques. The incumbent reviews patient sample results and all QC results, and analyzes patient samples to detect and quantify drugs, narcotics, poisons, or other controlled substances using instrumental chemical techniques, including gas and liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. The role also involves troubleshooting and diagnosing instrument issues, participating in SOP revisions and instrument verifications, and assisting with laboratory quality assurance and quality control functions. Additionally, this position trains the Clinical Toxicology 1 position in instrumentation and new assays and assists with the validation of new methods under the supervision of the laboratory supervisor.
