About The Position
The Medical Tech Aide dispenses medications, observes patients for reactions, and assists nurses in providing client care. This role requires adherence to ethical, legal, and safety standards, as well as maintaining client confidentiality and respecting client rights. The position also involves coordinating with medical professionals to ensure on-site and/or on-call services are maintained.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medication Aide Certification
- Demonstrated experience with production of specialized materials and documents.
- Proofreading and editing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Responsibilities
- Dispense oral, inhalation and topical medications to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse unless otherwise allowed by state law.
- Observe patients for drug reactions and report any problems to the nurses.
- Perform tasks associated with medication administration, including taking patient vital signs, calculating medication dosages, and stocking the medication cart.
- Record medication administration according to agency procedure.
- Assist the nurse in providing care to clients, which includes observation and reporting of client needs.
- Recognize and perform tasks according to the level of education and training.
- Accept responsibility and accountability for own performance according to state laws and regulations.
- Perform tasks in an ethical, legal, and caring manner.
- Perform tasks safely and effectively to assure client comfort and welfare.
- Respect client rights.
- Protect confidential client information unless otherwise required to promote client safety and welfare.
- Follow federal, state, and agency regulations to protect own health and that of others.
- Seek guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
- Coordinate with contract physician(s) and other licensed medical professionals to maintain on-site and/or on-call services.
