About The Position

Sinai Health System’s 2 North is a fast-paced medical-surgical unit focused on providing safe, quality-driven care grounded in evidence-based practice. Patients arrive from the emergency room, direct admissions, transfers from other hospitals, intensive care, and other hospital units. The unit offers exposure to trauma and a variety of surgeries, with opportunities to cross-train in Surgical Step Down and SICU. The role provides EKG training, ACLS, and annual CEU credit, and offers an opportunity to advance toward work in a Level 1 Trauma SICU. The Registered Nurse enriches patients’ lives through empathy and compassion, delivers and delegates care through development and implementation of plans of care, and participates in patient and family education. The nurse collaborates with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, responds appropriately to codes, follows hospital and department policies and procedures, and accurately interprets patient data to plan and revise care independently or in consultation with other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Illinois.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement plans of care through delivery and delegation of care.
Participate in patient and family education.
Communicate and collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
Respond appropriately in emergency situations, including codes.
Adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures.
Accurately interpret patient data and use it independently or in consultation with other healthcare professionals to plan and revise care.
Demonstrate empathy, compassion, interpersonal excellence, professional greetings, and common courtesy.
