About The Position

Riverview Regional Medical Center is hiring a full-time Medical Surgical Registered Nurse for its Medical Surgical Acute 6T department in Gadsden, Alabama. The role is scheduled for day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a $2–$6 shift differential. Medical-surgical nurses care for patients recovering from surgery, managing acute or chronic illnesses, or undergoing diagnostic procedures. The hospital welcomes new graduates and supports nurses in developing their skills while providing patient care.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter; preferred.
• Previous acute-care hospital experience; preferred.
• Ventilator management experience; preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients’ physical, emotional, and mental health.
• Monitor vital signs, intake and output, and other clinical indicators to identify changes in patient conditions.
• Recognize and respond to warning signs of deterioration, including changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental status.
• Safely administer prescribed oral, IV, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions.
• Act as a liaison among patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure patient needs are met.
• Educate patients about their conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission.
• Communicate with physicians, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans.
• Document care using Epic computer charting.
