Medical Surgical LPN
About The Position
Medical-Surgical LPNs provide compassionate, high-quality hands-on care to patients with a wide range of medical needs, including acute illnesses and post-operative recovery. In a fast-paced, team-oriented hospital setting, they use clinical skills and critical thinking to support patient outcomes, coordinate care, anticipate patient needs, and help patients and families feel informed and reassured. This is a full-time, day-shift position in the Medical/Surgical Unit at Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas. Shifts are 12 hours, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply and will be discussed during the interview process.
Requirements
- Current and valid state license.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire.
- Maintain current IV certification upon hire, as applicable to state requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including hygiene support, mobility assistance, and comfort measures.
- Monitor vital signs, document observations, and report changes in patient condition.
- Administer prescribed medications and observe patients for reactions or side effects.
- Perform wound care and dressing changes, and assist with procedures within the state LPN scope.
- Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and the care team to support individualized care plans.
- Assist with discharge planning and provide patients and families with education about treatments and recovery.
- Follow infection control practices and maintain accurate patient records.
