About The Position
The Medical Surgical CNA assists with patient care on the Medical Surgical Renal unit (4E) at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The role supports patients with daily activities, mobility, feeding, and vital signs while monitoring for changes in their condition. The CNA also supports nurses by maintaining supplies, assisting with wound care under an RN’s direction, and helping provide a clean, safe environment. This is a full-time position working 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.
Requirements
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire; required.
- Current BLS certification upon hire and maintained throughout employment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
- Help patients with mobility, including turning, repositioning, and transfers, to help prevent skin breakdown.
- Feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake and output.
- Take and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to nurses.
- Assist with wound care under the direction of an RN.
- Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms.
- Help keep the environment clean and safe.
- Assist in transporting patients within the hospital.
