About The Position
The Medical-Surgical Clinical Resource Nurse provides compassionate, skill-based nursing care and supports improvement in patient care by developing innovative solutions and integrating research into practical nursing practice. The role uses evidence-based information to support clinical decisions and promote the professional growth of peers. The nurse develops unit education goals based on a comprehensive needs assessment, coordinates and evaluates orientation processes, identifies current and future learning needs, and provides counseling and support. The position also includes educating patients about disease processes, illness prevention, and medications; obtaining nursing histories; assessing, documenting, and reporting physiological and behavioral changes; and implementing hospital and nursing guidelines in clinical practice. This is a part-time position with flexible hours Monday through Friday at Franciscan Health Lafayette East Campus in Lafayette, Indiana.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing / Patient Care.
- Two years of Nursing / Patient Care experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license from a state licensing board.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities
- Develop unit education goals based on a comprehensive needs assessment.
- Serve as a leader in promoting the professional growth of peers.
- Develop, coordinate, maintain, evaluate, and improve components of the orientation process using evidence-based practice.
- Identify present and anticipate future learning needs.
- Provide counseling and support.
- Provide information on disease processes, illness prevention, and medications.
- Obtain accurate nursing histories.
- Assess, document, and report physiological and behavioral changes in patients.
- Implement hospital and nursing guidelines and procedures in clinical practice.
