About The Position

STGi is currently seeking a Medical Support Assistant to provide services at our Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC). The general duty of the Medical Support Assistant is to provide clerical and administrative support for the CBOC.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to manage schedules and treatment of CBOC patients.
  • Must be able to maintain electronic logs/files in conjunction with the consult/appointment process.
  • Must be able to greet and check in patients, updating records as necessary.
  • Must be able to coordinate patients' schedules and clinic flow.
  • Must be able to perform clerical and administrative functions to maintain patient data.
  • Must be able to schedule new and established patient appointments.
  • Must be able to track and facilitate completion of encounters and consults.
  • Must be able to participate in PACT team huddles and team meetings to manage and plan patient care.
  • Must be able to monitor pre-appointment requirements to assure readiness for patient visit/procedure (e.g., X-ray, lab work).
  • Must be able to manage electronic wait list to verify and validate accuracy and resolve issues.
  • Must be able to perform administrative follow up actions.
  • Must be able to participate in and independently follow up on team huddles by sharing information and collaborating with the medical team to assure continuity of care.
  • Must be able to evaluate patient information and clinic schedule lists to determine whether patient is vested.
  • Must be able to gather information and collect/compile data to meet the needs of the service.
  • Must be able to deal effectively with individuals who may be ill, irritable, or otherwise hard to please.
  • Must maintain alertness to patients requiring immediate treatment.
  • Must extend a high degree of customer service to patients, other contractor staff, Subcontractor(s) staff and personnel, and Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC).
  • Must be able to conduct initial screen of patients, including veteran eligibility and active enrollment in the VA Primary Care Program.
  • Must be able to verify that required appropriate individuals have completed CBOC/VA paperwork.
  • Must be able to schedule and notify patients of follow-up appointments/referrals.
  • Must be able to assist in the coordination of supplies/equipment.
  • Must be able to assist in maintaining the Veteran Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) clinic reminder tracking system current for each enrolled patient.
  • Must be able to assist the CBOC Clinic Manager in ensuring that all required reports are completed in an accurate and complete fashion.
  • Must be able to act as a liaison between contractor and the VAMC.
  • Must be able to participate in the ongoing Performance Improvement Program between STGi and VAMC.
  • Must comply with all federal, state, local, Joint Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Veteran Affairs, STG and subcontractor safety and operational regulations, directives and standards.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of all information and support patients’ privacy, rights, and safety.
  • Must be able to perform other work-related duties as assigned.
