Requirements

• Associate’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education (60 college credit hours) and at least 7 years experience in a Medical Staff Administrative position.
• Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialists (CPCS) by the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS).
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work efficiently.

Nice To Haves

• Affiliation with NAMSS and the Louisiana Society Medical Staff Services (LSMSS) is strongly encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Directs the operations of the Medical Staff Services Department in concert with the Chief Medical Officer.
• Manages and coordinates the flow of information from Medical Staff Committees to the Credentials Committee and Medical Executive Committees.
• Provides maintenance and oversight of physician and allied health files and database.
• Manages departmental and Medical Staff finances.
• Assists with TJC Survey preparation for the medical staff/leadership function.
• Works closely with medical staff leaders and hospital administration with regard to medical staff issues.
• Manages professional, clerical and volunteer staff including day-to-day supervision, employee relations, and staff development.
• Maintains effective and responsive relationships with medical staff and other departments.
