About The Position

Oversees the day-to-day operation of the Medical Staff Services Office. Responsible for establishing and maintaining continuity in the planning, development and implementation of standards applicable to Medical Staff Members and relating to appointment/credentialing and the organized Medical Staff activities. Provides advisory support to the hospitals' medical staff and serves as a liaison between Administration and the Medical Staff. Ensures entire credentialing and on-boarding process for physicians consistently creates a positive physician experience.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in business/public administration, or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in medical staff services.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Valid certification from the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM).
  • Knowledge of medical staff services function and structure.
  • Knowledge of credentialing and privileging.
  • Knowledge of Det Norske Veritas (DNV) standards.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to the credentialing process.
  • Knowledge of bylaw, rules and regulations (CMS, NRS).
  • Knowledge of department and hospital safety practice and procedures.
  • Knowledge of patient rights.
  • Knowledge of age specific patient care practices.
  • Knowledge of infection control policies and practices.
  • Knowledge of handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Knowledge of hospital personnel policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
  • Skill in effectively supervising assigned staff.
  • Skill in facilitating resolution of conflicts among staff.
  • Skill in applying budget principles and practices.
  • Skill in identifying and implementing performance standards.
  • Skill in problem solving.
  • Skill in developing interpersonal relations with department heads and functional areas of the hospital.
  • Skill in analyzing and problem solving.
  • Skill in applying team building concepts.
  • Skill in utilizing personal computers for data management and information dissemination.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office application suite.
  • Skill in communicating effectively with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties.
  • Skill in efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
