About The Position

We are seeking a Medical Staff Services Manager / Credentialing Lead to support the Executive Committee of Medical Staff and Credentials Committee at NASA Johnson Space Center. This position serves as the subject matter expert for provider credentialing and medical staff support activities in a unique, mission-driven healthcare environment. This position is full-time and onsite at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in a setting unlike traditional hospital environments. The individual in this role will directly support the medical staff processes that contribute to NASA's mission of advancing human spaceflight and protecting the health and performance of those who explore beyond Earth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in medical staff credentialing, provider enrollment, medical staff services, or related healthcare administrative roles.
  • CPCS or CPMSM certification, or the ability to obtain certification within (1) year of hire.
  • Strong knowledge of CMS, Joint Commission, NCQA, and state regulatory requirements.
  • Experience performing primary source verification and managing provider credentialing files.
  • Proficiency with credentialing software systems and databases.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting established deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency and the ability to successfully obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a hospital, health system, or large multi-specialty practice.
  • Experience using MD Staff credentialing software.
  • Experience supporting Medical Executive Committee and Credentials Committee operations.
  • Advanced reporting and data management skills.
  • Previous NASA experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute provider credentialing and recredentialing activities.
  • Perform primary source verification of education, licensure, certifications, training, work history, DEA registration, and malpractice coverage.
  • Maintain provider files and credentialing databases to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor expiring credentials and proactively manage renewal activities.
  • Prepare credentialing files and supporting documentation for Executive Committee of Medical Staff and Credentials Committee review.
  • Support committee operations, including agenda preparation, meeting coordination, and follow-up actions.
  • Collaborate with providers and leadership to resolve credentialing issues and facilitate timely onboarding.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards, including CMS, Joint Commission, NCQA, NAMS, and state requirements.
  • Participate in audits, quality initiatives, and accreditation readiness activities.
  • Develop and maintain credentialing policies, procedures, reports, and related documentation.
  • Serve as a credentialing subject matter expert and provide guidance to internal stakeholders.
