Kern Medical has been a community cornerstone since its founding in 1867. Today, we are an acute care teaching center with 222 beds, offering the only advanced trauma care between Fresno and Los Angeles. Kern Medical cares for 15,500 inpatients and 125,000 clinic patients a year. Under direction, obtains information for and maintains credential files and temporary privilege applications for medical staff/practitioners in accordance with applicable state laws, Joint Commission on Accredited Hospital Organizations (JCAHO), Medical Board of California and Kern Medical Staff By-laws. Coordinates processing of applications and appointments and provides administrative support for medical staff and health professionals. Monitors compliance with medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and procedure in addition to applicable federal, state and local regulatory and/or accrediting agencies. The classification is focused on the credentialing and privileging process associated with the medical staff/practitioners. Additionally it is responsible for a variety of support activities in the operation of the functions of the Chief Medical Officer.
