This role involves determining new donor suitability, educating donors, obtaining informed consent, managing donor medical incidents, and counseling unsuitable donors. The specialist conducts confidential interviews, performs medical histories and screening physical examinations, and assesses donor screening results to determine suitability. They also handle emergencies, administer medication within their scope of practice, review test results, and maintain knowledge of relevant regulations. Confidentiality, customer service, and adherence to safety policies are crucial. The work requires interpretation and evaluation, with potential for developing new criteria and analysis of complex problems.
