About The Position

St. Francis Medical Center is seeking a Medical Social Worker to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and counseling to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and older adult patients and their significant others. The role provides information and referrals, including referrals for financial assistance and supportive services, to patients and families coping with issues related to hospitalization, illness, disability, or trauma. The Medical Social Worker provides case and milieu management, completes psychosocial assessments, assists with developing and reevaluating treatment plans, and works as part of a multidisciplinary team. The position coordinates discharge planning and completes required documentation, maintaining a clinical record for each client throughout their stay.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Professional Clinical Counseling.
Where licensure is required by the state, obtain licensure upon hire and maintain it in accordance with state regulations.
At least one year of inpatient or outpatient experience emphasizing mental health care.
Experience working with diverse populations and a wide range of problems, including death and dying, maternal and childcare, substance abuse, disability, and chronic illness.

Current BCLS certificate upon hire.
