About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Lead Medical Scribe and Clinic Quality Manager, the Medical Scribe is responsible for accurately transcribing medical notes related to patient encounters into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for physician review and approval. This position involves accompanying physicians during patient examinations to document history, physical exams, diagnoses, symptoms, and any treatments or procedures performed. The Medical Scribe also transcribes patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications, ensuring that all information is entered into the EMR system promptly and correctly. In addition to transcription duties, the Medical Scribe is expected to maintain effective communication with physicians, patients, and other staff, while adhering to safety protocols and safeguarding patient confidentiality. This role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment. The Medical Scribe is expected to conduct themselves professionally and carry out other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong understanding of filing systems, office machines, and equipment.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle tasks with flexibility, adjust to changing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Capable of interpreting documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Maintain proper grammar and spelling in written correspondence.
  • Mathematical skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to handle basic financial calculations.
  • Ability to reconcile cash drawer balances when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes.
  • Solid understanding of the medical insurance process.
  • Associate degree in a pre-med, pre-nursing, or a health-related field.
  • 1+ years of office related or medical scribe experience or training.
