About The Position

This part-time position performs scribe duties for a physician's clinical service, documenting everything said during the course of the service on behalf of the physician. The role involves fulfilling primary administrative support and non-clinical functions by scribing medical data into a paper or electronic medical record system, accurately documenting events and decision-making for appropriate medical charting. Scribes also complete clerical activities to assist with processing physician orders for tests and medications, charting patient encounters accurately and timely, including patient history, physical exams, diagnostic findings, lab and test results, consultations, emergency department treatment, diagnoses, discharge instructions, and prescriptions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
  • Medical Office Setting (3 Years)

Responsibilities

  • Fulfills the primary administrative support and non-clinical functions of a busy physician by scribing medical data into a paper or electronic medical record system.
  • Documents the events and decision-making accurately in a manner that results in appropriate medical charting.
  • Completes clerical activities necessary to assist with processing of physician orders for tests and medications.
  • Charts patient encounters accurately and timely, including but not limited to patient history, physical exams, diagnostic findings, lab and test results, consultations with other providers, emergency department treatment course, diagnoses, discharge instructions and prescriptions.
