About The Position

The Medical Scribe accompanies physicians into patient exam rooms to transcribe histories and physical exams and accurately document physician encounters with patients and others present. The role also prepares patient charts before clinic by reviewing the next day's schedule, confirming that required documentation is available, updating patient information in the EMR, and flagging missing or incomplete items for the provider.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work as a team player, maintain a positive attitude, and adapt to change.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods.
• Ability to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Nice To Haves

• CNA or Registered Medical Assistant qualification preferred.
• One year of experience in an orthopedic or physical therapy setting preferred.
• Six months of experience as a scribe preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient charts for provider review before clinic by reviewing the next day's schedule, confirming required documentation is present, updating patient information in the EMR, and flagging missing or incomplete items.
• Transcribe patient histories and physical exams.
• Accurately document physician encounters with patients.
• List diagnoses and symptoms, along with follow-up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
• Transcribe patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
• Document procedures completed by the physician.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
