About The Position

The Medical Screener works part time at a BioLife plasma donation center, screening plasma donors and performing phlebotomy to support center operations. The role involves providing customer service, maintaining donor safety, and ensuring quality while helping collect plasma used to make medicines. Most shifts are 4 to 6 hours per day, at least 3 days per week. Availability and shift days and times are confirmed early in the interview process, and schedule changes are communicated in advance. The position includes paid, interactive training and reports to the Plasma Center Manager.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to walk and/or stand for the entire work shift.
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to lean, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach above the shoulders and below the knees.
Ability to lift up to 5 lbs., occasionally lift materials up to 32 lbs., and rarely lift up to 50 lbs.
Fine motor coordination, depth perception, and ability to hear equipment from a distance.
Ability to wear gloves for prolonged periods; 90% of work tasks require prolonged glove wear due to potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens (risk level 1).

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of experience in a customer-facing or patient-facing role is helpful.

Responsibilities

Answer phones and greet and focus on donors while ensuring the safety of donors and team members.
Screen new and repeat donors and take and record donor vital signs and finger-stick results.
Use the Donor Information System, prepare donor charts, maintain accurate records, and coordinate donor compensation.
Identify operational opportunities for continuous improvement and initiate changes to center processes using company-approved procedures.
Perform phlebotomy to support plasma center operations.
Work a variety of shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
