About The Position

Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process. The role involves assisting qualified donors in completing the screening process, which includes assessing health history, answering medical questions, referring donors to medical staff, and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature. The position may also involve educating new donors on therapeutic products, registering donors, answering the telephone, monitoring donors for reactions, and accurately recording donor data. The role also requires maintaining a clean work environment, following safety procedures, and maintaining confidentiality. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) may be required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in a clerical or customer service related position, preferably in a medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Will perform basic math calculations.
  • Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
  • Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment while performing specific tasks or in certain areas.
  • Bilingual skills may be required, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Referring donors to medical staff when appropriate.
  • Performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature.
  • Performing finger stick to obtain sample for hematocrit and total protein levels.
  • Educating new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma.
  • Explaining the screening process, health screening tests, appointment system, donation fees, center policies, and proper nutrition.
  • Ensuring all donor questions are answered timely, accurately, and professionally.
  • Registering applicant and transfer donors.
  • Answering the telephone and callers' questions or transferring calls.
  • Maintaining alertness and awareness to any donor reaction and notifying appropriate staff.
  • Alerting Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
  • Ensuring accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
  • Understanding policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs.
  • Maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.
  • Ensuring sufficient operating supplies and forms are available.
  • Following all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures.
  • Promoting safety in all actions.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
