About The Position

Under the guidance of the Line Manager, the Medical Science Manager (MSM) drives the implementation of the Country medical affairs plans related primarily to KOL engagement, scientific data generation support and data dissemination. The role involves building and maintaining professional relationships with external stakeholders through compliant scientific exchange, ensuring high standards of professionalism to develop and maintain "peer-to-peer" scientific relationships with key opinion leaders in healthcare, academia, payer, and government organizations. The MSM also provides scientific liaison support to investigators involved in Sobi’s studies, participates in KOL engagement planning, and maintains the medical customer relationship management system. They serve as a liaison between healthcare practitioners (HCPs) and Sobi medical affairs, contributing to effective and compliant data dissemination, fostering fair and balanced medical and scientific communications, and presenting clinical and disease-related information to various audiences. The role may involve responding to unsolicited medical inquiries and conducting therapeutic training for Sales and Medical colleagues. Additionally, the MSM communicates key medical insights, provides scientific input for local medical and cross-functional initiatives, and offers field-based medical support for Sobi’s clinical research programs. They maintain awareness of internal and external information sources, develop knowledge of medical literature and critical appraisal of scientific publications, and stay updated on Sobi’s disease areas and products, as well as MSM best practices and relevant pharmaceutical guidelines and regulations.

Requirements

  • University Degree level education in a medical-science background or other, related and relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated scientific/medical reading, presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to exchange scientific ideas and information effectively with KOLs and other HCPs.
  • Experience in both pre-launch and launch activities.
  • Experience of strong engagement with KOLs network in local country and/or internationally.
  • Multi-stakeholder project management and leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to deliver results on time and within budget.
  • Knowledge of health system and healthcare decision making, including regulatory, safety, legal and compliance environment.
  • Strong customer orientation, science based and business acumen, negotiation skills.
  • Highest levels of personal integrity, with a strong personal commitment to adhere to all rules, regulations, Standard Operating Procedures and the Sobi values and ethics, compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Frequent travel is required.
  • Availability to travel approx. 70% of time, predominantly domestically.
  • Availability to attend meetings on holidays and weekends with advance notice.
  • Clean and valid driver’s license.
  • Average computer skills (MS Office, databases, etc.).
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in KOL engagement planning, maintains KOL plans and updates medical customer relationship management system (CRM).
  • Serves as a liaison between healthcare practitioners (HCPs) and Sobi medical affairs.
  • Contributes to effective and compliant data dissemination according to country medical affairs plan.
  • Ensures appropriate scientific exchange with HCPs by fostering fair and balanced medical and scientific communications.
  • Presents clinical and disease-related information to a variety of audiences upon requests and/or according to country medical plans.
  • May be involved in responding to unsolicited medical inquiries from HCPs and other stakeholders.
  • Conducts therapeutic training for Sales and Medical colleagues upon request.
  • Communicates key medical insights from KOLs/HCPs to inform refinement of medical strategies or tactics.
  • Provides scientific input and participates in local medical and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Provides field-based medical support to Sobi’s clinical research programs, registries, and facilitation of the investigator-initiated research process.
  • Participates and/or leads on internal project teams according to assignment by Line Manager(s).
  • Maintains awareness of and access to internal and external information sources available to support high-quality scientific exchange with HCPs.
  • Develops/increases knowledge of medical literature and critical appraisal of scientific publications.
  • Maintains knowledge base and scientific expertise on all assigned Sobi´s disease areas and products.
  • Maintains personal expertise in MSM best practices.
  • Develops and updates knowledge of applicable pharmaceutical guidelines and regulations, Code of Ethical Practices and company policies.
  • Gains customer insights, opinions and feedback and shares internally.
