About The Position

Ipsen Pharma GmbH is seeking a Medical Science Liaison Manager for Rare Diseases in the South West region of Germany (Köln – Trier – Saarbrücken – Speyer – Frankfurt a. Main - Aschaffenburg – Gießen). This role supports the Medical Team in Germany and focuses on identifying and developing relationships with national and regional medical and scientific Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) consistent with the strategy and objectives of Medical Affairs and overall Ipsen strategies. The position involves engaging in scientific exchange and education about current and emerging therapies in a compliant fashion with KOLs, including advisory boards, individual meetings, and congresses. The role requires developing and maintaining scientific, clinical, and therapeutic expertise in Rare Diseases, representing the company at educational events, medical meetings, and scientific conventions. Additionally, the MSL Manager will collaborate with clinical development to identify sites for Ipsen trials and disease concepts for product differentiation, and serve as a valued scientific partner through innovative initiatives and scientific communication. The role also provides scientific, clinical, and educational support to internal cross-functional customers, supports medical publications, assists commercial operations with training, and leads/participates in special project teams. A key aspect is supporting cross-functional teams to ensure patient-focused operations and responding to internal and external requests for medical affairs support.

Requirements

• Advanced Scientific, healthcare or medical degree (PharmD, PhD, MD) is required.
• Medical/paramedical Practice or Research career (hospital and/or hospital related, university research, pharmaceutical industry research or medical affairs).
• Previous holding of an MSL or related role with at least 2 years’ experience.
• Proven experience and successful track record as an MSL or medical department professional in a previous company.
• Experience in delivery of scientific presentations and development of relationships with national/international Thought Leaders.
• Demonstrated expertise in ability to synthesize and communicate medical information clearly.
• Knowledge in data analysis and statistics as well as legal, regulatory, and compliance regulations and guidelines.
• Teamplayer with solution-oriented approach and good communication skills.
• Ability to travel ~ 60-80% (based on the size of respective geography).
• Business fluent in German and English.

Nice To Haves

• Previous and recent experience in Rare Diseases / Liver is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop relationships with national and regional medical and scientific KOLs consistent with the strategy and objectives of Medical Affairs and overall Ipsen strategies.
• Engage in scientific exchange and education about current and emerging therapies in a compliant fashion with KOLs (to include advisory boards, individual meetings, and congresses).
• Develop and maintain scientific, clinical and therapeutic expertise in the areas of Rare Diseases.
• Represent the company at specific continuing medical educational events, programs, medical meetings and scientific conventions.
• Work with clinical development as requested to identify and engage with appropriate sites for Ipsen trials and identify disease concepts that can be leveraged into product differentiation.
• Differentiate Ipsen as the valued scientific partner of choice through innovative initiatives, coordinated strategy, and scientific communication.
• Provide appropriate scientific, clinical, and educational support for internal cross functional customers (including other members of the MSL team).
• Support medical publications as needed (abstracts, manuscripts, etc.).
• Support commercial operations by participating in Speaker and Representative Training.
• Lead/participate on special project teams as necessary.
• Support cross-functional teams to ensure operations are patient-focused, including rapidly responding to internal and external requests to discuss specific situations and challenges and provide medical affairs support to all stakeholders.
