The Medical Scheduler is responsible for the registration and scheduling process for complex patients. This role involves updating the system with registration, scheduling, and insurance information, preparing patient disability and out-of-work/school paperwork, discussing financial obligations, explaining regulatory forms, and answering patient questions. The scheduler must be able to work in multiple systems during patient-facing interactions and telephone call receipts to complete accurate registration and support the clinical workflow. They will also be responsible for assisting patients at the front desk, greeting them courteously, and maintaining patient records via the electronic medical record system. This includes updating insurance information, collecting co-pays, and scheduling follow-up appointments and referrals. The role requires professional communication with providers, patients, clinical care teams, and insurance companies, as well as answering and directing phone calls. The Medical Scheduler must convey a professional image by adhering to the dress code and exemplify Albany Med CARES guiding principles to ensure an optimal patient experience and promote safety.
