Requirements
- Associate degree in a health care field preferred.
- 6-months to 1 year related experience/training or equivalent of education/experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Working knowledge of computers and appropriate software.
Responsibilities
- Verifies availability of date, time, and anesthesia for scheduled surgical procedures.
- Accurately obtains scheduling information including procedure, type of anesthesia, length of stay, and patient demographics.
- Promptly schedules surgical procedures while observing block times.
- Communicates with hospital staff regarding scheduling and pre-admission testing.
- Accurately records cancellations and reasons in the computer.
- Answers phone calls in a timely and courteous manner and properly disposes of the calls.
- Notifies appropriate staff of supply/forms shortages.
- Respects and maintains confidentiality.
- Works in a safe, compliant and ethical manner at all times.
