About The Position

Greater Philadelphia Health Action, Inc. (GPHA) is hiring Full-time Medical Assistant/Registration Assistants (MA/RA) at multiple locations. This role is dedicated to creating opportunities where compassion and skills continue to make an impact in the healthcare community. The MA/RA will prepare patients for visits, assist clinicians, manage referrals, complete forms, process specimens, maintain logs, perform ordered procedures, and ensure accurate quality control. Additionally, they will operate communication systems, professionally greet and assist visitors, attend mandatory training, accurately enter and update patient information, and perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor. Requirements

  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA or RMA)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of Medical Assistant training in primary care
  • Ability to deal with people sympathetically and effectively to obtain necessary information
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
  • Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel
  • CPR certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish or Chinese language proficiency
  • Associate’s Degree
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience
  • NextGen experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for office visits and assists clinician with physical examination
  • Schedules external referrals
  • Completes all necessary forms
  • Prepares specimens for pick up by Laboratory
  • Follows Laboratory Tracking systems
  • Maintains required logs
  • Performs specific procedures ordered by provider
  • Processes all medical forms as necessary
  • Performs Lab Quality Control procedures accurately
  • Maintains a safe and orderly nurse's station and clinical environment
  • Operates paging/telephone system as assigned
  • Greets, gives direction/information to patients, visitors, guests and sales representatives professionally and cordially
  • Attends all mandatory staff development/training sessions and staff meetings
  • Enters and updates patient's demographic, financial and insurance information accurately and timely
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
