About The Position

Provides diversified administrative, clerical, and technical assistance within the correctional healthcare facility through electronic information systems management, delegated medical tasking, medical records processing, or materials inventory/procurement activities. These functions are performed under the direction of the Registered Nurse Administrator and are based upon the appropriate standards, policies/procedures and security considerations of the SFC Adult Detention Center.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience in a position performing duties specifically relevant to the essential job functions and knowledge and skills defined herein.
  • Must obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR and Defensive Driving certifications within three (3) months of hire.
  • Considerable knowledge of filing systems and records management.
  • Ability to operate various word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software programs.
  • Ability to read and write legibly in English and to type to the extent required to prepare orders, make reports and perform quality improvement activities.
  • Ability to think and act quickly; to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Class D Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Operates personal computers to enter and assimilate data, generate reports, draft routine correspondence, and develop special administrative analyses upon request.
  • Establishes and maintains security and access control for records.
  • Assists in retrieving and maintaining a tracking system for all medical record charts located in the facility.
  • Reviews medical records for completeness and to abstract and code clinical data, such as diseases, procedures and therapies, using standard classification systems.
  • Assists with compliance review.
  • Completes forms and processes requests for medical information.
  • Practices principles of patient and employee confidentiality.
  • Performs clerical functions incidental to record maintenance activities.
  • Remains current on all in-service/education/credentials/certification requirements for position, as appropriate.
