About The Position

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Medical Records Technician to manage patient records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. This role involves accounting for discharges, organizing and scanning documents, performing quality checks, and assisting with health information requests. The technician will also be responsible for releasing patient information in accordance with legislative requirements and company policies. This position requires adherence to ethical and legal standards, including HIPAA, and compliance with the company's Code of Business Conduct.

Requirements

• Certificate or degree from college or technical school or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 6 months experience within HIM preferred
• Cross trained in two of the following functions: prepping, scanning or indexing, electronic medical record, data integrity functions, transcription outsourced duties, data entry and/or perform system testing
• Compliance with HIPAA and company policies regarding privacy and data security.
• Adherence to the company's Code of Business Conduct.

Responsibilities

• Accounts for records upon discharge, provides follow up to locate the records not received where applicable.
• Assembles (preps) records into proper chart order.
• Scans patient records and loose sheets to patient encounters.
• Indexes patient records to ensure scanning quality is performed according to procedure.
• Provides reception and processing of request for all information for all chart requests.
• Retrieve records and loose sheets from floors for processing.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
