About The Position

The Medical Records Technician (HIM) is a full-time, remote position responsible for compiling, processing, and maintaining patient health information in accordance with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements. This role operates within the Health Information Management procedures, specifically as part of the Chart Prep team, ensuring electronic charts are prepared for appointments and patient confidentiality is maintained according to HIPAA and practice regulations. The position promotes a culture of caring through interactions with internal and external customers and involves sorting and prioritizing incoming information from various sources. Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, process, and maintain patient’s health information in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements of the practice in a timely manner.
  • Prepare electronic charts for appointments.
  • Promote a culture of caring through interactions with internal and external customers.
  • Sort and prioritize incoming information (faxes, emails, mail, and phone calls).
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and practice regulations.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
