Requirements
- Must be in possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
- Employees who meet the Necessary Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee work plans, set unit goals, and provide guidance to medical records staff
- Organize and maintain integrated medical records in accordance with standards and policies
- File, issue, and prepare records for transfers, parole cases, and legal proceedings
- Examine records for accuracy and return incomplete documentation to staff for correction
- Prepare statistical reports on record activity and health service use
