About The Position

The Medical Records Scanner performs a variety of tasks related to compiling, sorting, and scanning patient information into the Electronic Health record. As a team member, the Scanner must demonstrate knowledge of basic filing systems and act as a backup to the Courier when needed. The role also requires demonstrating knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with staff, patients, families, and visitors of all age groups, while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Additionally, the position involves organizing materials for delivery, picking up and delivering items to various centers/offices and post offices, and handling medical supplies/equipment as directed. The role also includes mail processing, operating postage systems, handling confidential information, vehicle maintenance, and potentially assisting with medical reception duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic knowledge of computers and typing skills required
  • Basic Understanding of filing systems
  • Demonstrate filing appropriately and assist with other office tasks
  • Must continuously listen, visualize, and have dexterity and eye-hand coordination
  • Ability for simple grasping and speed work
  • Must demonstrate positive personal attributes such as professionalism, honesty, and integrity
  • Must be conscientious of maintenance and appearance of Health Center

Responsibilities

  • Compile and sort patient information correctly
  • Adhere to scanning information according to established procedures
  • Rearrange materials in the file tab to be sure they are in chronological order
  • Consistent in scanning information correctly
  • Follow procedures for Health record request
  • Inform manager when help is needed
  • Realize the importance and confidentiality of information handled
  • Verify patient health records before scanning information
  • Answer the telephone as needed
  • Assist providers as needed with Health records
  • Assist the Medical Records Specialist as requested
  • Understand the health records format
  • Demonstrates a willingness to work flexible hours as necessary
  • Performs related work, as assigned
  • Organize materials to be delivered each day
  • Pick up and deliver materials to the various centers/offices and post offices assigned
  • Pick up and deliver medical supplies/equipment as directed
  • Provides needed information to the Manager for vehicle maintenance
  • Provides excellent internal customer service
  • Breakdown and process intra and inbound mail and parcels
  • Prepare and process all outbound mail and parcels
  • Compile reports and records necessary for daily operation
  • Operate electronic postage charge-back system
  • Handling confidential information and/or high value documents/items including cash
  • Cleaning and caring for his/her assigned vehicle
  • Fill in as a medical receptionist as needed
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • Assist the medical records department with scanning when needed
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance
  • Verify timecard at the end of each pay period
  • Completes the required IT/Security trainings prior to the deadline
